SITUATION
The PDC (Park Distance Control) is malfunctioning (PDC warning message in CID [Central Information Display], PDC sounding when driving or PDC inoperative).
One or more of the following faults are stored:
PDC - 9E3B PDC: Supply, ultrasonic sensors - Fault currently present
PDC - 9E38 PDC: Wire, ultrasonic sensor, front right - Short to negative
PDC - 9E3A PDC: Wire, ultrasonic sensor, front center left - Short to negative
PDC - 9E39 PDC: Wire, ultrasonic sensor, front left - Short to negative
CAUSE
Pinched wire
CORRECTION
In the case of a customer complaint, using the BMW diagnosis equipment, follow diagnostics and the relevant test plan. If directed by the test plan to check the wiring, the wiring may be pinched in the area of the secondary injection air flow meter.
Loosen the liner in the front right wheel well, in the area behind the front right headlamp.
Inspect the wiring (1) in the area of the secondary injection air flow meter for a pinched wire.
If the wiring is pinched, repair any affected wires (refer to B61 01 07).
If no pinch is located, continue troubleshooting other sections of the PDC wiring.
