32 31 211 - Replacing universal joint for lower section of steering spindle

Only perform this work after engine has cooled down.





Important!
Observe safety instructions 00 .. ... Lifting Vehicle With A Lifting Platform on raising the vehicle.

After installation:
- Carry out steering angle sensor adjustment Adjustments





Necessary preliminary tasks:
- Move steering wheel to straight-ahead position and remove ignition key

- Remove steering gear cover at side





Release clamping screw.
Detach universal joint from power steering gear.

Installation Note:
Replace clamping screw.
Tightening torque 32 31 14AZ [1][2]Specifications.





Installation Note:
If necessary, move power steering gear to straight-ahead position - markings on cap (1) and housing (2) must match up.





Release clamping screw.
Grip steering spindle lower section and pull out universal joint with corrugated tube downwards.

Installation Note:
Universal joint can only be attached in one position to lower section of steering spindle.
Replace clamping screw.
Tightening torque 32 31 13AZ [1][2]Specifications.
