Intake camshaft, tooth offset relative to crankshaft

Condition for fault identification
Test condition:
Condition is end of start phase reached
tmot>-7 °C
engine at idle or in overrun fuel cutoff at least 1 minute > 5
sec.
Terminal condition: Terminal 15 ON
Voltage condition:
11 < U (V) < 14.5

Condition for fault memory entry
Time = 1.5 sec.

Action in service
Check position of reluctor ring
Replace camshaft position sensor
Check VANOS solenoid valve for contamination
Replace solenoid valve
Replace VANOS
Only as last resort: Check sprocket adjustment position and
change chain

Fault effect and breakdown warning
MIL ON means customer must report to service facility
