Condition for fault identification
Test condition:
- Error class:
Position controller monitor
- VVT monitoring system
for stiction.
Always active when:
- output stages enabled AND
- no pulse-duty factor
control AND
- no relay/enable error AND
- no undervoltage AND
-
Terminal condition: Terminal 15 ON
Voltage condition:
9.6 - 15.5 V

Condition for fault memory entry
45 ms

Action in service
- Check battery charge state, charge battery as indicated
- Check wiring harness;
- Measure resistance between winding and casing (test not
possible with available measurement technology).
- Check reluctor installation;
- Check for wear and mechanical stiction

Fault effect and breakdown warning
- VVT in emergency default mode
- Customer perception depends upon the system's ability to
achieve maximum-stroke position. If the
excentric shaft can reach the maximum-stroke position
the vehicle will not display any perceptible
performance changes (only higher fuel consumption).
