Echo on Landline Side of Phone Call

MODEL
E64 (6 Series) from 3/07 to 9/07 production
E70 (X5) from 3/07 to 9/07 production with Premium Package (ZPP) or BMW Assist� (SA639) and Top HiFi (SA677)

SITUATION
During a hands-free phone call the person on the landline side of the call may complain about hearing an echo.

CAUSE

^ The in vehicle hands-free audio volume maybe set too high.

^ Digital Sound Processing (DSP) coding in the TCU.

PROCEDURE

1. Check the hands-free call volume during a phone call. Adjust as necessary.

^ If there is still an echo heard on the landline side of the call, perform the procedure outlined in step 2.

^ If the echo can no longer be heard, explain to the customer that setting the vehicle's hands-free call volume to high will cause an echo.

2. Code the complete vehicle per SI B09 05 01 (Coding, Individualization, Programming), Procedure E, using Progman V-26.01.02 or higher. Note: This will automatically update any control modules not at the latest software level.

Please refer to the latest KSD for all applicable labor operations and allowances.

If the appropriate labor operation is not contained in KSD, then a work time labor operation should be used.
