SUBJECT
Warning Chime Inoperative for Check Control and/or Directionals
MODEL
E90, E91, E92 (3 Series) without CCC
SITUATION
The customer complains that the warning chime is inoperative for the check control or the direction indicators. DIAGNOSIS TIP The audible signals for the turn signals and check control messages (for non-CCC vehicles) come from the Instrument Cluster.
Use Instrument Cluster test functions, to test the audible signals. If the audible signals work, then continue troubleshooting using DISPlus/GT1. If they do not work, then the Instrument Cluster is faulty and should be replaced.
To access the Instrument Cluster test functions:
- Terminal R (KL-R) ON or Terminal 15 (KL-15) ON
- Press and hold the reset button in the Instrument Cluster for 10 seconds
- Toggle the reset button to test function #19 (Lock on)
- Press the reset button with an extended press (2-3 seconds) to access the code release.
- The test functions are unlocked by entering the sum of the last five digits of the vehicle identification number. This number is inputted by toggling the reset button.
- Once unlocked, toggle the reset button to advance to test # 13._.
- Release the reset button and the display changes to 13.00.
- Press the reset button to test each of the audible signals. (The number of available audible signals is dependent on the vehicle equipment level)
