32 41 060 Removing And Installing (Replacing) Vane Pump For Hydraulic Steering (N54/N55)







WARNING:
Danger of poisoning if oil is ingested/absorbed through the skin.
Risk of injury if oil comes into contact with eyes and skin.

IMPORTANT:
Adhere to the utmost cleanliness. Do not allow any dirt to enter the hydraulic system.
Close off line connections with seal plugs.







Recycling:
Catch and dispose of hydraulic fluid in a suitable collecting vessel.
Observe country-specific waste disposal regulations







Necessary preliminary tasks:
- Draw off and dispose of hydraulic fluid from oil reservoir
- Remove underbody protection
Remove front left charge-air duct

- Remove fan cowl with electric fan
- Release transmission oil cooler and place to one side (only vehicles with twin-clutch transmission and automatic transmission)
- Remove belt pulley
- Remove left track rod from hydraulic steering gear







Mark installation position of pressure line (arrow).
Release banjo bolt (1) and disconnect pressure line.

Installation note:
Replace all sealing rings (D).
Replacement only: Carry over marking from used part.
Marks on pressure line and vane pump connection must match up.
Tightening torque 32 41 8AZ.







Release screw (2) using tool (1).







Release screws (1) and remove vane pump towards front.

Installation note:
1. Insert screws (1, 2) (do not tighten down)
2. Tighten screw (2) to 2 Nm
3. Tighten screws (1) to 2 Nm
4. Tighten down screws (1)
Tightening torque 32 41 6AZ.

5. Release screw (2) and check screw fastening point for gap freedom
6. Tighten down screw (2)
Tightening torque 32 41 6AZ.







Release hose clamp (1) and detach intake pipe from vane pump.
Remove vane pump.

Installation note:
Marks (arrow) on intake pipe and vane pump connection must match up.







After installation:
- Fill and bleed hydraulic system
- Check line connections for leak tightness
