SUBJECT
Software Errors Corrected with Progman
MODEL
E90, E91, E92, E93 (3 Series)
Vehicles produced up to August 30, 2007
SITUATION
The customer may complain of the following situations.
The following software errors were corrected with the release of Progman 27.00.00 (Target data Status E89x-07-09-518):
1. [NEW] The "Service Engine Soon" light is on. DME fault code "2AD8 - EAC Sensor monitoring" is stored. This only affects the N51 PZEV engine. Refer to SI B12 16 07.
2. [NEW] An erroneous "Low Oil Level" warning message comes on. This only affects vehicles equipped with AWD and N51, N52, N52K and N54 engines. Refer to SI B12 05 07 for further information.
3. An erroneous check control message stating "SOS inactive" is displayed. Refer to SI B84 16 07 for more information.
4. Vehicles equipped with iPOD using the USB interface (SA 6FL) switch from iPOD mode to FM mode.
5. CCC: The radio does not revert to the previously listened-to station. Refer to SI B65 28 07 for more information.
6. The xenon headlights (SA 522) sporadically perform a reference run during vehicle operation. This only occurs in vehicles produced from 2/28/07 to 8/31 07 with FRM2 (Footwell Module).
The following software errors were corrected with the release of Progman 25.01.00 (Target data Status E89x-07-03-520).
1. [NEW] There is loss of power during idle or when slowing to a stop. No faults associated with the DME are stored. This only affects vehicles equipped with N51 and N52K from 9/06 to 3/07. Refer to SI B12 15 07 for further information.
2. In vehicles equipped with CCC (Car Communication Computer), the SDARS (Satellite Radio) stored station list is intermittently empty since programming with Progman V25.00.00.
3. There is poor RTTI (Real Time Traffic Information) reception. The CID (Central Information Display) is constantly displaying "Transferring Messages" since programming with Progman V25.00.00.
4. After vehicle programming of the PDC (Park Distance Control), FC 9e28 is stored. Carry out a power cycle (ignition Off/On) and clear the fault memory.
The following software errors were corrected with the release of Progman 25.00.00 (Target data Status E89x-07-03-515):
1. If there is an incoming telephone call while the SVS (Voice Input System) is active, it is not possible to accept or reject the call.
2. A loud humming noise can be heard from the auxiliary fan when the vehicle is idling.
3. The automatic transmission enters "Failsafe" mode during a 5-4 downshift. EGS fault "AF8D - ratio monitoring 5-4 gearshift plausibility" is stored.
4. CCC: The programmable diamond MFL button does not work when set to "Next entertainment source" when the vehicle is in motion.
5. CCC: The customer occasionally has poor radio reception after the vehicle was programmed with Progman V23.x or V24.x.
6. The speedometer and tachometer needles shake when the vehicle is idling.
7. CCC: There is a slow response to inputs made when using the controller after startup.
8. CCC: A high frequency whistling noise can be heard intermittently in radio mode.
9. CCC: The navigation system pop-up arrow display is missing. Refer to SI B65 76 06.
10. CCC: The CD/CDC track advances after the key is cycled. Refer to SI B65 32 05.
11. SDARS (Satellite radio) receiver fault "A537 - Sat aerial short circuit" is stored.
The following software errors were corrected with the release of Progman 24.00.00 (Target data Status E89x-06-12-510):
1. The PDC (Park Distance Control) stops working if the vehicle stops running when the reverse gear is selected and the vehicle is then restarted.
2. The headlight leveling system (LWR) is not working. Fault code "9CB6 LWR coil break" is stored in the FRM (Footwell Module). Coding of the FRM is necessary.
3. CCC (Car Communication Computer): The "dynamic route" SVS (Voice Recognition System) option is missing on vehicles with RTTI (Real Time Traffic Information).
4. There is no check control message when one of the tail light bulbs is defective. Coding of the FRM is necessary.
PROCEDURE
For all vehicles, on a customer complaint basis only, refer to the following procedure and warranty information.
1. Update the complete vehicle per SI B09 05 01 (Coding, Individualization, Programming) Procedure B, using Progman 27.02.00 (Target Data Status E89x-07-09-521) or higher.
