SUBJECT
Noise from Front Axle/ Right Side

MODEL

E90, E92 (3 Series) with N54 engine and xDrive from start of production up to 10/06/07

SITUATION

A grinding or scraping noise may be heard while cornering at vehicle speeds up to 30 miles per hour. The noise is more pronounced while the vehicle is in the warm up phase and may change intensity during left and right turns.

CAUSE

The right side engine support is making contact with the right side engine mount.

CORRECTION





Inspect the right engine support arm (not shown) and the engine mount for signs of contact at the location shown in the illustration (1). Measure the clearance between the mount and support arm. If the clearance is less than 2.7mm, or if the mount shows signs of contact, replace the right engine mount. Refer to repair instruction RA 22 11 00 1.
