CAUSE
The spring that tensions the headliner has broken.

CORRECTION

PROCEDURE

1. Partially open the RHT (Retractable Hardtop) so it's half way between fully closed and the service position.

2. Remove the broken/damaged spring (1) from the headliner string (2), and the screw (3) from the RHT frame.

NOTE:
Note the location of the crimp clamp on the string before it is removed.

3. Feed the end of the headliner string through the eyelet on the new spring.

4. Obtain a crimp clamp from the headliner fastening kit.

5. Using the crimping tool supplied in the RHT special tool kit 1.2 (Cartool number 54 0 160), secure the crimp clamp onto the string in the same position as the previous one was located.

6. Re-install the protective rubber sleeve over the spring.

7. Install the new screw through the end of the spring and eyelet on the protective sleeve, and secure it to the hole in the frame where the screw was previously attached.
