SUBJECT
Rear Roundel Emblem Comes Loose

MODEL
E93 (3 Series Convertible) produced up to April 2007

SITUATION
The Roundel emblem located on the trunk lid may be loose or appear to be separating from the trunk lid.

CAUSE
Unfavorable tolerance stacking between the emblem and the grommets which it secures to, or improper seating of the emblem into the grommets which it secures.

CORRECTION
Install a new Roundel emblem and new grommets.

PROCEDURE

1. Remove the existing roundel emblem per repair instruction RA 51 14 011.

2. Spray a light coating of silicone lubricant into the inside of 2 new grommets to ensure proper seating of the emblem.

3. Insert the 2 grommets into the trunk lid.

4. Install the new roundel emblem onto the trunk lid per repair instruction RA 51 14 011.
