Replacing Both Rubber Straps

54 34 217 Replacing Both Rubber Straps

Necessary preliminary tasks:
- Remove trim on convertible top catch
- Remove convertible top compartment base

Work on right side of convertible top is the same as that shown for the left side.







Open trunk lid (1).
Partially open convertible top (2).
Rear screw fastening points (3) for rubber straps on convertible top bow.
Front screw fastening points (4) for rubber straps on convertible top bow.







Rear screw fastening points:
Release screws (1) from tensioning strap.

Secure rubber strap (2) to tensioning strap (1) with new screws.







Installation:
New screws are longer and included in the spare part delivery specification.







Secure tensioning strap and rubber
strap (2) with new screws (1) to convertible top bow.







Front screw fastening points:
Release screws (1) from roofliner.







Feed rubber strap (1) from rear between convertible top cover (2) and roofliner (3) towards front.







Secure rubber strap (1) and roofliner with new screw.

Installation:
New screw is longer and included in the spare part delivery specification.







Attach screws (1) to convertible top bow.
Attach screw (2) with rubber strap to convertible top bow.
