Steering Column Lock: Service and Repair

32 32 001 Replacing complete steering lock

Necessary preliminary tasks:
^ Remove fixture for steering column stalk
^ If necessary, remove interlock cable from steering column
After installation:
^ Carry out mechanical (lock cylinder, steering lock, interlock cable) and electrical (ignition, radio etc.) function checks





Remove lock cylinder (1) with O-ring.
Remove ignition starter switch (3).
Release shear screws (5) (e.g. with a chisel).
Open adjusting lever (2).
Swivel front steering lock (4) downwards and then remove towards rear.

Installation: Tighten down shear screws (5) until screw heads are released.
