Front Steering Knuckle: Service and Repair
31 21 080 Replacing left or right steering knuckleSpecial tools required:
^ 31 2 200
^ 32 3 090
Necessary preliminary tasks:
^ Remove bearing (wheel hub).
Unfasten nut. Pull off tie rod with special tool 32 3 090.
Installation:
Remove grease from bore and pin. Replace self-locking nut.
Tightening torque, 32 21 3AZ.
Unfasten nut. Press control arm off steering knuckle with special tool 32 3 090.
Installation:
Replace self-locking nut.
Tightening torque, 31 12 6AZ.
Secure steering knuckle against falling off.
Unscrew multi-purpose bolt.
If necessary, spread out steering knuckle with special tool 31 2 200 and remove.
Installation:
Insert positioning pin (1) into gap and press steering knuckle upwards onto stop.
Tightening torque, 3121 4AZ.
Remove guard plate and attach to new steering knuckle.
