51 16 340 Removing And Installing/Replacing Lock Fastener For Right Glovebox (With Active Knee Protection)

NOTE: Lock fastener for glovebox cannot be removed without incurring damage and must be replaced after being removed.

Necessary preliminary tasks:
- Remove glovebox







Removal:
Detach actuating unit (1) in direction of arrow from glovebox (2).

NOTE: Actuating unit (1) is destroyed during removal.







NOTE: Prepare wire (1) - max. 2 mm dia. and approx. 60 mm long - as illustrated.

Push in locking rods (2 and 3) as far as they will go.
Block locking rod (3) with wire (1).







Release screws (1) and unclip lock fastener (2) in upwards direction.







Installation:
Feed lock fastener (1) into glovebox (2).
Insert screws (3) and tighten down Pull out locking pin (4).

NOTE: After being installed, actuating unit (2) cannot be removed without incurring damage.







Push in locking rod (1) slightly.
Clip in actuating unit (2) on glovebox (3).
