Rear Coil Spring, Remove/Install (33 53 00)




33 53 000 Removing and installing / replacing rear left or right coil spring





Important!
- Both coil springs on the relevant axle must be replaced in the event of corrosion breakage.
- The spring pads at the top and bottom must also be renewed when replacing the coil springs.

Note:
The coil spring is allocated in the Electronic Parts Catalogue (EPC) under the item "Spring table" after the vehicle identification number has been entered and the optional equipments of the car have been selected.





Installation note:
1. All screws, nuts, bolts and hose clamps removed during the repair must be replaced.
2. Retaining elements on chassis and suspension and steering parts must be replaced.





Necessary preliminary tasks:
- Remove rear wheel.
- Remove rear pulse sensor from wheel carrier Replacing A Rear Pulse Generator
- Remove rear shock absorber from swinging arm.
- Remove rear brake caliper on wheel carrier and tie back Remove & Install Rear L or R Brake Caliper (W/O Brake Bleeding)
- Remove control arm from wheel carrier
- Remove wishbone from wheel carrier
- Remove anti-roll bar link from swinging arm Anti-Roll Bar Link From Swing Arm, remove/install (33 55 041)
- Remove integral link from wheel carrier and swinging arm.
- Detach swinging arm from rear axle support at front.





Important!
- Check sensor head and line from pulse sensor prior to installation for external damage, replacing if necessary.

Press wheel carrier downwards.
Pull out coil spring to the side.

Installation note:
- Check spring pads, replace if necessary.
- Coat lower spring pad (1) with lubricant.










Important!
Spring pads must be positively seated in the take-up locator/frame side member or on the wheel carrier to prevent the coil spring from springing out of the centering mount.





After installation:
Check headlight adjustment , correct if necessary
