Steering Wheel: Service and Repair

Removing And Installing Steering Wheel





Remove airbag unit, refer to Restraint Systems.
Move steering wheel/wheels to straight-ahead position
Mark steering wheel in relation to steering spindle.
Release screw and remove steering wheel.

Installation:





Move wheels to straight-ahead position.

Fit steering wheel.
Markings on steering wheel and steering spindle must line up.
Tightening torque:
- Steering wheel to steering spindle
- Nut 80 Nm
- Screw 63 Nm

Installation:





Retaining pins (1) must snap into place in recesses (2).



Replacing Switch On Sports Steering Wheel (Smart Airbag)

Remove airbag unit (smart).







Remove screws (1) and (2).
Unclip complete trim (4) in direction of arrow from fixtures (3).
Disconnect plug connection underneath.







Loosen screws (1).
Detach switch on sports steering wheel (3) in direction of arrow from trim (2).
