Radiator Cooling Fan Motor: Service and Repair


Removing And Installing/Replacing Complete Auxiliary Fan

Remove front bumper completely.

Remove carrier on front bumper.





M62 only:
Lever out expansion rivets (1). Release screws (2).
Tightening torque, refer to Specifications, Mechanical.





Note:
Intake pipe is secured in intake hood by means of two locking lugs (1).
Locking lugs are located under intake hood.

Press locking lugs (1) around circumference and remove intake hood.





M54 only:
Lever out expansion rivets (1). Remove intake hood (2).






Unfasten plug connection (2) and disconnect.





Release cable tie (1).
Release screws (2) on left and right.





Lever out expansion rivets (1).
Remove panels (2) and (3).
Remove auxiliary fan completely with cowl towards bottom.





Installation:
Attach cowl of auxiliary fan to holders (1) on left and right.





Open locks.
Remove protective grill (1).





Release screws (1).
Remove fan impeller (2) from cowl (3).
