Remove & Install Rear L or R Brake Caliper (W/O Brake Bleeding)
Removing and Installing or Replacing Rear Left or Right Brake Caliper (Without Brake Bleeding)Remove rear wheel. After finishing work: Bleed brake system.
Apply pedal prop and depress brake pedal slightly. This prevents brake fluid from escaping from the expansion tank after the brake lines have been opened (which would enable air to enter the brake system).
Loosen screws (1). Disconnect brake hose (2).
Caution:
The brake hose is secured on the upper control arm by a line holder.
The flaps of the line holder must not be opened. If this does however occur, the holder must be replaced!
Right:
Disconnect plug connection for brake lining sensor.
Pull off fist caliper towards rear of vehicle.
Installation:
Install brake hose without torsional stress.
If at all possible, do not replace seal between brake hose and brake caliper. Only replace the seal if it is damaged.
Tightening torque, screws (1):
- Brake carrier on semi-trailing arm/wheel carrier 65 Nm
Tightening torque for brake hose/line:
- Brake hose couplings
- M10 x 1 18 ± 1 Nm
- M12 x 1 18 ± 1 Nm
Caution: Check routing and securing of brake-pad-wear indicator cable. Check for correct securing with tab of dust cap. Rubbing of cable on rim must be prevented.
