Remove/Replacing Switch For Gear Recognition
Note:
After completing work:
Proceed in accordance with test program, refer to "Service Functions" in DIS Tester.
Read out fault memory and clear fault entries.
Remove catalytic converter and intermediate pipes.
Remove rear underbody protection.
Remove heat shield (1).
Release screws.
Tightening Torque, 26 11 1AZ
Installation:
- Replace self-locking nuts.
Grip propeller shaft at center bearing and release nuts.
Tightening torque, 26 11 6AZ Center mount = 21 Nm.
Caution!
Do not let propeller shaft fall into joints. In particular, on the constant velocity joint, the rubber sleeve gets squashed or the joint is damaged.
Kink propeller shaft downwards at center bearing, remove from transmission output flange and secure at side to underbody with a cord or wire.
Unclip cable at holder (1).
Cut through cable tie (2).
Release screws.
Tightening Torque. 23 41 2AZ
Detach switch.
Installation:
- Clean threads of screws and tapped holes.
- Insert screws with screw locking compound (Loctite 243).
Remove switch for gear detection; to do so:
A. pulling off switch for gear recognition (1) somewhat toward rear.
B. pressing shaft (2) to right and pulling out of selector shaft.
Installation:
- Coat pin (2) with some lubricating grease.
- Large diameter of pin (2) points to left.
- Insert shaft (1) into selector shaft and insert pin (2) with large diameter into left bore hole.
Disconnect cable plugs (4 and 5).
Unclip cable at holders.
