54 21 026 Removing And Installing/Replacing Roof Frame Weatherseal (Window Weatherseals) On Hard Top
Necessary preliminary tasks:
- Open side windows
- Remove roof lining.
Feed out seal (1).
Release nuts (2) from inside.
Remove seal (sealing frame) with trim strip.
CAUTION: Do not under any circumstances user paint thinner for cleaning.
Installation:
- Soak cleaning cloth in cleaning agent (e.g. Isohexan) and clean bonding area
Air drying time: ≥ 1 minute
- Detach liner from self-adhesive butylene sealing tape and stick on sealing tape
- Cut off excess length with scissors
- Roll enter bond with hand roller
Installation:
Feed roof frame seal (1) into rear window frame seal (2).
Removal of roof frame seal ends here.
Further tasks when replacing roof frame seal:
Detach roof frame drip molding from rubber seal.
Adjustment:
For the following work, make a 13 A/F flat open-end wrench (by grinding).
Thickness = 2.5 - 3 mm
Adjustment:
- Align drip molding (1) to roof frame
- Adjust gap dimension (A) by turning lock nuts (2) over entire length of molding
NOTE: Do not adjust door windows.
