SUBJECT
N62TU CBS Engine Oil Service Indicates 19,000 Miles

MODEL
[NEW] E65, E66 vehicles with the N62TU engine produced from 3/05 through 8/05.

SITUATION

These E65, E66 vehicles, with the N62TU engine, may show that the oil service is due in 19,000 miles when the vehicle is new or after the engine oil CBS has been re-set. The correct value should be 15,000 miles.

CAUSE

DME software calibration error

CORRECTION

On a customer complaint basis only, perform the repair procedure as described below.

PROCEDURE

Reprogram the vehicle using CIP 19.0 (Target Data Status E065-05-09-500), or higher. Perform the CBS correction, if necessary, as described in SI B 09 05 01.

[NEW] Covered under the terms of the BMW New Vehicle Limited Warranty.
