Transmission Output Flange Removal and Resealing
MODEL
E60 (5 Series) 545i and 550i equipped with manual transmission or SMG transmission
E63 (6 Series) 645Ci and 650Ci equipped with manual transmission or SMG
transmission
E64 (6 Series) 645CiC and 650CiC equipped with manual transmission or SMG
transmission
SITUATION
Currently the repair instruction and the EPC do not correctly show the parts and tools to remove, and or replace the output flange and oil seal. Affected transmissions are shown below.
^ SMG Transmission GS6S53BZ (SMG)
^ Manual Transmission GS6S53BZ/DZ
545i, 645Ci and 645CiC with Manual or SMG Transmissions:
Repair Instruction RA 23 12 059 indicates the incorrect tool number to remove the output flange nut, the correct number is 23 0 200. At this time a limited number of tools are available, if this tool is needed please submit a PuMA case to the Drivetrain Group and we will ship the tool to your center to complete the repair. Do no not replace the transmission.
550i, 650Ci with Manual or SMG Transmissions:
EPC does not indicate replacement parts for the output flange, seal or nut. Please refer to the parts list indicated below. Repair instructions do not exist for the 550i and 645Ci at this time, refer to RA 23 12 059 for the 545i, 645Ci or 645CiC vehicle. Remember the nut removal tool number is incorrect, submit a PuMA case to the Drivetrain Group and we will ship the tool to your center to complete the repair. Do not replace the transmission.
