SUBJECT
Airbag Warning Lamp, FC 93EB or FC 55

MODEL
E90, E91 (3 Series) and E83 (X3) vehicles produced [NEW] between August 31, 2005 and April 26, 2006

SITUATION
The red airbag warning lamp (AWL) in the instrument cluster is illuminated and a fault code for "Emergency call function..." is stored in the MRS5 (Multiple Restraint System) control module. The fault code is FC 93EB for the E90 and E91 or FC 55 for the X3. The fault occurs regardless of whether the vehicle has a TCU (Telematics Control Unit) or not.

CAUSE
Internal varistor fault within the MRS control module

CORRECTION
The TCU must not be replaced.

[NEW] The problem has been integrated into DIS Diagnostics. Follow Diagnostics and the relevant test plan, using the latest DIS version.
