SUBJECT
Junction Box Pin Assignment Change

MODEL
[NEW] E90
[NEW] Produced prior to 9/2005

[NEW] SITUATION
When replacing the Junction Box (fuse box) using P/N 61 14 6 978 270 or later, note that various pin assignments have changed.

The following additional work procedure is necessary to properly perform this repair.

[NEW] PROCEDURE

1. Follow ISTA Repair Instruction 61 13...., "Replacing interior fuse box for cars before 09/2005," when replacement of the fuse box is needed. The Repair Instruction provides the new pin assignments required for the new fuse box.

The component location for the fuse box connectors that need to be modified can be found using the following ISTA "Text search" criteria:

^ Set search filters to "Select all."

^ Search for "X11011" and mark the "Search in the document title" selection.

^ The EBO document "X11006, X11003, X11002, X11001, X11005" can then be selected.

To prevent damage when releasing the terminals, use the special tools listed in the repair instructions to unlock each terminal.

2. For vehicles with active steering, also replace the terminal on the RT/BR power supply from fuse 45, using the special crimping tool described in the repair instructions.

3. Replace the fuse diagram (behind the cover at the back of the glove compartment) with the updated diagram.
