A5S 325Z Transmission

Replacing Output Flange (A5S 325Z)
After completing work, top up ATF level.
Check/top up fluid level in automatic transmission, refer to 00 11 500.

Remove output flange and radial seal, refer to 24 12 019.

Caution:
It is absolutely essential to use the approved automatic transmission fluid in this automatic transmission,
Failure to comply with this requirement will result in serious damage to the automatic transmission!





Note: An end float of 0. 15 ... 0.35 mm is required between parking interlock gear and end face of output flange. End float is adjusted with help of shim (1).





Calculate shim:
Clamp transmission extension in a vise.
Press output flange in direction of arrow.

Note: Output flange must be free.





Calculate dimension (A) from collar mount to sealing face and dimension (B) from collar mount to face of output flange.

Example:
A = 10.00 mm
B = 7.50 mm





Remove shim from sprag wheel.
Press sprag wheel inwards.
Calculate dimension (E) from sealing face on transmission case to recess (1) on sprag wheel.

Example:

E = 4.00 mm

Dimension A
- Dimension B _________________
= Dimension C

Dimension E
- Dimension C
- End float __________________
= Thickness of shim

Example:

10.00 mm
- 7.50 mm ______________
= 2.50 mm


4.00 mm
- 2.50 mm
- 0.30 mm _______________
= 1.20 mm

Install a 1.20 mm shim.

Note: Shims are available in thicknesses from 0.8 ... 2.8 mm, increasing in 0.2 mm steps.
