51 12 742 Replacing One Shock Absorber For Rear Bumper (Touring)

(bumper removed)
If necessary, remove rear bumper.
Remove cover or parcel shelf in trunk.







Release nuts (1) on inside and remove shock absorber.

Installation:
3AZ Impact absorber / carrier to body
M8 22 Nm







Installation:
If necessary, fit a new gasket (1) and a new cover (2) to shock absorber (3).







Adjust bumper:
Ideal adjustment:
Distance (A) must be the same all around between the bumper and body cutout.
Dimension (A) = 5 ± 1 mm







Slacken inside nuts (1) on left/right and adjust height of bumper.

3AZ Impact absorber / carrier to body
M8 22 Nm
