Hard Top Latch: Service and Repair

54 21 045 Removing And Installing/Replacing Fastener For Hard Top At Rear/Side Left Or Right

Necessary preliminary tasks:
- Remove hard top
- Remove trim-molded roof lining (C-pillar trim)







Disconnect plug connection (1) and if necessary push off retainer.
Unclip cable (2).







Removing fastener:
- Turn locking lever (1) to rear (close)
- Release screw (2)
- Detach locking lever (1) and detent disc (3) towards top
- Release nut (4)
- Remove nut with fastening plate (5) towards top
- Feed out fastener (6) towards bottom

Installation:
Tightening torque:
Screw (2)
3AZ Fillister-head screw, locking lever, rear
M4 x 10 2.4 Nm
Nut (4)
2AZ Seal nut, rear
M16 x 1.5 60 Nm







Installation:
- Note reference (L or R) to vehicle side on locking lever (1) and detent disc (2)
- Note arrow (->) as reference to direction of travel
- Lettering (L / R or ->) pointing upwards
- Align locking pin (3) towards front
- Fit fastener loosely only
- Fit and align hard top
- Screw down nut
