54 31 025 Removing And Installing/replacing Trim On Convertible Top Lock

Necessary preliminary tasks:
- If necessary, remove handle for convertible top lock.

Detach cover (1).
Release front screws and nuts in area (2).
Release screws (3) on roofliner.

If necessary, detach convertible top cover from cowl panel seal (scalpel).

Installation:
Bond with fast-action adhesive (sourcing reference: Parts Service).

Release screws (1).

Reach between rooflining and convertible top cover (1) and release rear screws (2) of trim from inside.

NOTE: Screws (2) need only be loose because trim has notches in this area.

Remove trim with seal.

For replacement only:
Feed seal out of plastic lug (1) towards rear and then towards front.
Remove seal forwards completely.

Installation:
Seal must not be damaged.
Feed front plastic lug (1) into seal pocket (2).
Pull seal to rear and at same time insert rear plastic lug (3) into seal pocket (2).

Installation:
After installation, seal must not be able to be pulled sideways out of plastic lug (1). Check by pulling sideways slightly.
If the seal can be detached from the trim, it has not been properly fed into the plastic lug (1). Repeat feeding-in.
