54 34 016 Removing And Installing/Replacing Left Or Right Hydraulic Cylinder For Convertible Top

Follow instructions for repairing hydraulic system.
Remove convertible top.

CAUTION:
- Hydraulic fluid may emerge from the removed lines and open connections on the hydraulic cylinder.
- Protect components and workplace with appropriate materials (e.g. cloths).







Release screws (1) of control unit, turn control unit at bottom outwards. Release screw (2), remove tab washer (3) and remove line (4) towards top.







Detach retainer (1), punch out bearing pin (2).







Left side only:
Detach retainer (1), remove position sensor (2).







Right side only:
Slide retainer (1) upwards, remove damper (2).







Detach retainer (1), punch out bearing pin (2).







Detach retainer (1), remove hydraulic line (2).







Remove hydraulic cylinder towards front.
If necessary, raise convertible top slightly.
