Triggering/Retracting Rollover Protection Bar (BMW Service Tester / MoDic)

Triggering:

WARNING:
- Danger of injury!
- When the actuators are electrically activated, there must be no persons present in the vicinity of the rollover protection bars.
- When a rollover protection bar is mechanically triggered, only one person may be present underneath the protection bar.


CAUTION:
- Open convertible top. If necessary, remove hard top.
- When the actuators are activated, both rollover protection bars are simultaneously triggered.


Remove head restraints on left and right.







Triggering rollover protection bar:
Refer to diagnostic program "Restraint and rollover protection function / rollover system".

NOTE: If the rollover protection bar fails to extend, it can be individually triggered mechanically.







Trigger rollover bar mechanically:
Remove backrest.
Trigger rollover protection bar individually through bore with a 4 mm dia. punch.







Retracting:
If necessary, unclip cover (1) inside rollover protection bar on left or right.

CAUTION:
- When retracting, make sure rollover protection bar snaps into place on lower stop.
- Slowly relieve load on rollover protection bar.








Press locking pawl (1) forwards and push rollover protection bar (2) downwards as far as it will go.

NOTE: Rollover protection bar must snap audibly into place.
