54 31 030 Removing And Installing Or Replacing Headlining In Convertible Top







Release screws (in area 1).
Fold securing rail downwards.







Detach cover material a little.
Unscrew bolt (1).







Installation:
Screw lug (1) of roofliner (C-pillar trim) from inside onto securing rail.
Material must point downwards.







Installation:
Roofliner (C-pillar trim 1) must run parallel with edge of convertible top compartment (2).







Release screw of tightening strap.







Unclip roofliner from rear window frame with plastic wedge (e.g. special tool 00 9 317).

NOTE:
- Clip points can be felt from outside.
- Position plastic wedge tightly next to clip point.







Release screw of rear window connection.

Installation:
Observe course of connection.
(1) Connection
(2) Line pack
(3) Belt







Fold open material pocket (1) at side.
Pull out dumbbell element (2).

Installation:
Feed dumbbell element (2) and dumbbell cable (3) into roofliner.







Detach convertible top cover from tensioning bracket towards front.







Fold convertible top cover with rear window forwards over dead center.







Separate material cloth (1) from rubber seal (2) of rear window guide (scalpel).

Installation:
Secure material cloth (1) in rubber seal (2) with fast-action adhesive (sourcing reference: BMW Parts Service).







Release screws (1) of rear bow on left and right.

Installation:
Feed tightening strap (2) into eyelet (3).







Release tensioning spring (1) and loose eyelet (2) of lower tensioning cable.







View from interior:
Release fixed eyelet (1) of middle tensioning cable.

Installation:
Observe course of tensioning cables:
(1) Fixed eyelet of middle tensioning cable
(2) Loose eyelet of lower tensioning cable (covered)







Release both eyelets of upper tensioning cable.

Installation:
Observe course of tensioning cable.







Release screws of tightening strap and of complete bow.

Installation:
Observe course of tightening straps.







Release screws of brace (1) and reinforcement strip (2) on trim on inside.
Remove roofliner from car.







Installation:
Fit first corner (1) of roofliner under lower edge (2) of reinforcement strip on trim.
