24 13 012 - Replacing output flange shaft seal (GA6HP26Z/6HP32Z)
Special tools required:
- 23 0 020 23 0 020 Holder
- 24 2 351 24 2 350 Extractor
- 24 2 352 24 2 350 Extractor
- 24 2 353 24 2 350 Extractor
- 24 2 370 24 2 370 Drift
- 24 2 380 24 2 380 Socket Bit WAF 34
- 24 2 410 24 2 410 Adapter Ring
Important!
After completion of work, check transmission oil level Checking/Topping Up Fluid Level in Automatic Transmission (GA6HP26Z/6HP32Z).
Use only the approved transmission fluid.
Failure to comply with this requirement will result in serious damage to the automatic transmission!
Necessary preliminary tasks:
- Remove underbody protection
- Remove complete exhaust system Service and Repair
- Remove transmission underbody protection (E65 only)
Remove heat shields (1) and (2).

Remove transmission cross-member Replacing Rubber Mount for Transmission Mounting.
Release screws and remove transmission supporting block from transmission.
Tightening torque 24 71 6AZ 24 71 Transmission Mounts.
Note:
Illustration shows E65.
Release propeller shaft Removing and Installing Complete Propeller Shaft (Constant-Velocity Joint) from transmission and centre mount and tie to one side.
Note:
To rotate propeller shaft, unlock parking gear.
Grip output flange (1) with special tool 23 0 020 23 0 020 Holder.
Release nut with special tool 24 2 380 24 2 380 Socket Bit WAF 34.
Tightening torque: 24 13 2AZ Transmission Extension, Bearings, Seals.
Installation Note:
Replace nut and secure with a mandrel (8 mm) by caulking.
Detach output flange from output shaft.
Remove spacer.
Attach special tool 24 2 353 24 2 350 Extractor to output shaft (1).
Screw in special tool 24 2 351 24 2 350 Extractor until it is firmly connected with shaft seal.
Pull out radial shaft seal by screwing in special tool 24 2 352 24 2 350 Extractor.
Oil sealing lip of radial seal (1). Drive in radial seal (1) with special tool 24 2 370 24 2 370 Drift and adapter ring 24 2 410 24 2 410 Adapter Ring as far as it will go.
