SUBJECT
Replacement Windshield - VIN Window in Wrong Position
MODEL
E60 (5 Series)
SITUATION
After replacing the windshield, the Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) label located on the body may not be completely visible through the VIN window.
CAUSE
The VIN window on a replacement windshield is positioned in a different position compared to the original windshield.
CORRECTION
Before installing a replacement windshield, ensure the VIN window is in the correct location.
Compare the replacement windshield to the original windshield or place the replacement windshield on the windshield frame before applying any adhesive.
If it is determined that the VIN window is in the wrong location, replace the windshield with the correct
one.
