12 42 510 - Replacing battery positive lead (between starter motor and B+ support point) (M54)





Necessary preliminary tasks:
- Read fault memory.
- Switch off ignition.
- Disconnect battery negative lead from battery and lay to one side.
Follow instructions for disconnecting and connecting battery Instructions for Disconnecting and Connecting Battery.
- Remove lower section of microfilter housing on left Removing and Installing/Replacing Left or Right Microfilter Housing Lower Section.

Unscrew nut (1).

Installation:
Tightening torque, 12 41 4AZ 12 41 Starter and Mounting Parts.

Disconnect battery positive lead (2) from starter motor.





Unscrew bolt (1).
Unclip battery positive lead (2) from holder on tension strut (3).
Unscrew nut (4).
Detach battery positive lead (2) from support point and remove.





Note:
- Read out fault memory of DME control unit
- Check stored faults
- Rectify faults
- Clear fault memory
