Replacing Front Both Safety Belt (Complete Unit)

Removing And Installing Or Replacing Front Left Or Right Safety Belt (Complete Unit)

Removing inertia reel unit:
Remove panel for door pillar (top).







Move front seat upwards.
Release seatbelt screw (1) on front seat and feed out seatbelt strap (2).

Installation:
Tightening torque.
11AZ Seat belt to seat (end fitting)
E53 45 Nm







Release screws (1).
Remove belt guide (2).







Slacken nut (1).
Remove reversing clip (2) on seatbelt height adjuster.

Installation:
Tightening torque.
6AZ Seat belt at belt height adjustment (reversing clip) 31 Nm







Removal of seatbelt height adjuster only:
Release screws (1) simultaneously so that seatbelt height adjuster (2) does not tilt.
Remove seatbelt height adjuster (2).

Installation:
Tightening torque.
12AZ Screw of seatbelt height adjuster to counter-support plate
E53 31 Nm







Release screw (1).
Unlock inertia reel unit (2) and remove from B-pillar.

Installation:
Ensure coding (3) is correctly seated.
Tightening torque.
14AZ Inertial reel unit to body / B-pillar
E53 31 Nm


Removing belt tensioner:

WARNING:
Observe safety precautions for handling airbag modules and pyrotechnical seat belt tensioners.
Inexpert handling can trigger off the airbag or the belt tensioner and thus cause injury.







Remove front seat.
Disconnect receptacle housing on seat holder. Unlock cap (1) and detach.







Disconnect individual plug connection (1).







Disconnect plug connection (1) on belt tensioner.
Unclip cable holder on front seat.
Release screw (2).

Installation:
Tightening torque.
13AZ Belt buckle tensioner to seat
E53 45 Nm


Installation:







Position bore (1) over journal (2).
