Wheel Bearing on Rear Axle Shaft

33 41 151 Replacing left or right wheel bearing on rear axle shaft

Necessary preliminary tasks:
^ Remove drive flange for rear axle shaft.

After installation:
^ Adjusting Hand brake

Unfasten screws.
Tightening torque; Bearing unit on wheel carrier 100 Nm
Remove wheel bearing.





Installation:
Keep tapped holes (1) and mating surfaces (2) of wheel bearing and wheel carrier clean and free from grease.
Use a new wheel bearing.
31 21 090 Replacing left/right (Front) swivel bearing

Special tools required:
^ 31 2 230

Necessary preliminary tasks:
^ Remove brake disk
^ Remove pulse generator
^ Remove tension strut from swivel bearing
^ Release control arm on front axle carrier and remove from swivel bearing

^ Remove holder for stabilizer link





Support swivel bearing (1) from below with workshop jack and a suitable mounting.

Expand swivel bearing (1) with special tool 31 2 230.
Lower swivel bearing (1) using workshop jack.
Remove swivel bearing (1).

Replacement only:
Replace bearing for front wheel.
Remove guard plate.

Necessary preliminary tasks:
^ Remove brake disk
^ Remove pulse generator
^ Remove tension strut from swivel bearing
^ Release control arm on front axle carrier and remove from swivel bearing

^ Remove holder for stabilizer link





Support swivel bearing (1) from below with workshop jack and a suitable mounting.

Expand swivel bearing (1) with special tool 31 2 230.
Lower swivel bearing (1) using workshop jack.
Remove swivel bearing (1).

Replacement only:
Replace bearing for front wheel.
Remove guard plate.
