Replacing Rear Spring Strut Shock Absorber

Note:
^ Check spring strut (when installed) with shock tester (see limit values) and (when removed) with shock absorber test machine
^ Read and comply with Service Information on shock absorber replacement
Necessary preliminary tasks:
^ Remove rear spring strut shock absorber
Warning! You will be exposed to a high risk of injury if you fail to comply with the following points!
- Follow instructions for using the spring tensioner.
- Use only specified special tools.
- Use protective inserts for special tools 313 357.
Clamp special tool 313 341 at guide in vice.
Position special tools 31 3 357 with protective inserts 32 3 368 from above on special tool 313 341 until locking pins can be felt and heard to snap into place.
Check that special tools 31 3 357 are securely seated; correct if necessary.
Clean coil spring to remove all coarse dirt and mount on special tools 31 3 357.
Tension coil spring.
Release nut, gripping piston rod at Torx socket.
Installation:
Tightening torque; Shock absorber piston rod on thrust bearing 27 Nm
Replace self-locking nut.
Remove plate (1).
Remove support bearing (2) with upper spring pad (3).
Remove support element (4) and remove rear shock absorber from coil spring.
Installation:
Check support bearing (2), upper spring pad (3) and support element (4), replace if necessary.
Installation:
Threaded pin (1) of support bearing must be on one plane with the bore in the rubber mount (2) and the opposite side of the bush (3).
Installation:
Make sure that the end of the coil spring rests against the upper/lower spring pad.
Remove damper (1) and lower spring pad (2).
Installation:
Check damper (1) and lower spring pad (2), replace if necessary.
If necessary, replace coil spring.
If necessary, replace support bearing.
