E60 "SOS INACTIVE WARNING" in CID

Complaint
"SOS Inactive" is displayed in the CID (Central Information Display).

Vehicles concerned: E60 with US telephone version (option 639)

Cause
Coding error of Telematics Control Unit (TCU)

Measure

1. Using CIP 9.3 or later update the vehicle software as per the "Measures Plan".

2. Perform "Complete Vehicle Coding".

3. Re-check for error message and check that the signal strength of the "Car Phone" is displayed (seat belt needs to be latched).

4. If the error message still appears "Special Measure" program the TCU as per SI B09 05 01 Procedure C.
