Complaint

The airbag indicator lamp is illuminated and FC 93DB (Step up converter defect) is stored in the SIM (Safety Information Module)

Vehicles affected:
E85 (Z4)

Cause

SIM - Safety Information Module

Measure

Check how frequently the fault occurs.

1. If the fault frequency is "1" clear the fault memory and allow the vehicle to enter sleep mode (Switch off ignition and wait 16 minutes). Read the fault code memory again. If the fault does not occur again a parts replacement is not necessary - it is an intermittent fault. The system is OK.

2. If the frequency is greater than "1" or the fault reoccurs after the fault code memory has been cleared the SIM must be replaced
