Third Brake Lamp Cracked

SITUATION
Excess spring tension caused by the 82N retaining springs may cause stress cracks in the third brake lamp.

PROCEDURE
In case of customer complaint, when replacing the third brake lamp, replace the existing 82N springs with 40N springs plus an additional washer:





Temporarily hold the washer (3) in place on the spring (1) using dum-dum (or equivalent) applied to the area shown (2).





Using a nut driver, assemble the nut, spring and washer (1) to the lamp mounting stud through the trunk panel hole (2) as shown.
