SUBJECT
Water in Headlamps

MODEL
E85 (Z4) Vehicles produced up to December 2002

SITUATION
There is water in the headlamp.

CAUSE
The access cover on the back of the headlamp can hang up on a reinforcing rib when being installed, with the result that the seal is not watertight.

(Note that the reinforcing rib is modified on later headlamps to prevent this possibility).

INFORMATION
When reinstalling the headlamp access cover afier servicing the internal components of the headlamp:

^ Check that all wires are clear of the sealing area.

^ Check that the seal is in place.





^ Check that the access cover is fully seated in the area highlighted in the illustration.
