Selector Shaft: Service and Repair

Replacing Selector Rod Joint





Unflange propeller shaft from transmission, refer to 26 11 000.

Detach locking clamp.





Withdraw shift rod (1) from shift rod joint (2) and remove disks (3).

Installation:
Grease shift rod pin (4).
Grease, refer to BMW Service Operating Fluids.

Large contact surface of disks (3) must rest against shift rod joint (2).





Lever spring washer (1) out of groove and push a little towards rear.

Press straight pin (2) upwards or downwards out of shift rod joint and remove shift rod joint.

Installation:
Grease ball of transmission selector shaft.
Grease, refer to BMW Service Operating Fluids. Replace spring washer (1).





Installation:
Check rubber ring (1) in shift rod joint (2) and replace if necessary.
