Shift Cable: Service and Repair


Replacing Cable For Gear Selector Lever
Special Tools Required:
^ 245210





Slacken nut (1).

Caution: To prevent deformation of cable, grip clamping screw with special tool 24 5 210.

Note: Special tool 24 5 210 can only be connected in P position.

Remove cable from counter support.

Pull out cable.

Installation:
Adjust shifting.





Remove fillister head screw (internal hexagon 3 mm).
Tightening torque, 25 16 2AZ.

Pull off handle with pull rod.





Installation:
Button not pressed.
Attach pin (1) of button in bore hole (2) of pull rod.





Remove clock or on-board display.

Remove panel at bottom.





Remove trim for selector lever.

Pull plug (3) on EGS switch and indicator light (4).





Installation:
Adjusting display slide of trim:
- Press adjuster (1) of display slide (2) against stop (3).
- Position opening of trim (4) over opening of display slide (2).
- Move preselector lever to "N" (NORMAL) position.
- Insert trim on preselector lever and install.
- Move preselector lever to "P" (PARK) position.
- Display slide (2) is now adjusted.





Lever out retainer (5).

Remove cable from counter support and detach towards front. Unhook cable from eye.





Installation:
Insert turning lock with bore hole in nubs.
Mount cable in this position.

Pull out cable towards top.
