Power Steering Pump: Service and Repair



Replacing Vane Pump For Power Steering


Caution!
Make sure all parts are absolutely clean.
No dirt is allowed to enter the system.
Seal off pipe connections with plugs.

Recycling:
Observe country-specific waste-disposal regulations.
Draw hydraulic fluid out of tank -> do not reuse.

Installation:
Fill hydraulic system.
Remove underbody protection at front and middle.
Remove drive belt.
Remove cooling air duct for brake on left and right.
Remove stabilizer bar from front axle support.
Disconnect pressure and suction lines from vane pump.

Installation:
Hydraulic line connections to vane pump and steering gear
M10 Banjo bolt 12 Nm
M14 Banjo bolt 35 Nm
M16 Banjo bolt 40 Nm
M18 Banjo bolt 45 Nm
Cap screw 36 Nm





1. Release screws (1) and remove belt pulley.

Installation:
Lettering on belt pulley points forward.

2. Release screws with washers (2...4) and remove vane pump.
Installation:
Note different length: screw (3)=M8X1OO.

3.Release screws (5...6) and remove bracket.
