Replacing Radial Seal For Selector Shaft


Replacing radial seal for selector shaft (S5D 280Z/S5D 320Z, 4WD)
Transmission removed.





Detach locking clamp.





Withdraw shift rod (1) from shift rod joint (2) and remove disks (3)

Installation:
Grease shift rod pin (4).

Large contact surface of disks (3) must rest on shift rod joint (2).





Lift washer (1) out of groove and push to one side.

Press dowel pin (2) upwards/downwards out of shift rod joint.

Remove shift rod joint.

Installation:
Grease ball of transmission selector shaft.

Replace spring washer.





Shift transmission into 2nd gear.

Screw in special tool 23 0 210 until it is firmly connected to radial seal (1).

Remove radial seal with special tool 23 0 210.





Coat sealing lips on radial seal and selector shaft with transmission oil.

Drive in radial seal with special tool 23 0 220.
