Recall 00V261000: Safety Belt Restraint Capacity

The safety belt lower outboard anchorage bolt on the driver's and front passenger's seats may not have been secured properly.

In the event of a crash, the safety belt system might not be able to provide its maximum restraint function.

Dealers will inspect the bolts and correct the torque if necessary.

Owner notification is expected to begin during September 2000. Owners who take their vehicles to an authorized dealer on an agreed upon service date and do not receive the free remedy within a reasonable time should contact BMW at 1-800-831-1117.
