Maintenance Required Lamp/Indicator: Locations

Instrument cluster:




1 Fuel gauge with indicator lamp for fuel reserve
2 Turn signal indicator
3 Speedometer
4 Indicator lamp for:
- Battery charge current
- High beams
- Engine oil pressure/Engine oil level
5 Tachometer and engine oil temperature gauge
6 Engine coolant temperature gauge with "Coolant temperature too high" indicator
7 Indicator and warning lamps (clockwise) for:
- Parking brake/Brake hydraulic system/Cornering Brake Control (CBC)
- Antilock Brake System (ABS)
- Brake pads
- Tire Pressure Warning (RDW)
- Airbags
- Please fasten safety belts
- Cruise control
8 Set button for the clock
9 Indicator lamp for Dynamic Stability Control (DSC)
10 Indicator for:
- Odometer
- Trip odometer
- Clock
- Service Interval.
- Indicator for computer, operation using the turn signal lever:
- Clock
- Outside temperature
- Average fuel consumption
- Crusing range
- Average speed
11 Indicator for Check Control
12 Trip odometer, reset to zero
13 Indicator and warning lamps (clockwise) for:
- Fog lamps
- Add washer fluid
- Coolant level
- Electronic Throttle Control (EML)
- Service engine soon

Note: You can have the outside temperature and distance traveled shown in other units of measurement.

Service Interval Display:



Remaining distance for service:

The displays shown in the illustration appear for a few seconds when the ignition key is in position 1 or after the engine is started.

The next service due appears with the message OILSERVICE or INSPECTION, together with the distance remaining before the next scheduled service. The computer bases its calculations of the remaining distance on the previous driving style.

A flashing message and a in front of the number mean that the service interval has already been exceeded by the distance shown on the display. Please contact your BMW center for an appointment.
