Fault Recognition/Diagnosis

The OBD II regulations require that any fault with the Siemens MS42.0 system that can affect emissions must turn on the "Check Engine Lamp" and be accessible through the OBD II read out connector. These faults will also be stored in the fault memory of the Siemens MS42.0 control module for access through the DIS/MoDiC test programs.

The failure warning of the Siemens MS42.0 system is through the CAN line to the instrument cluster and the "EML" warning indicator will be illuminated.

The diagnosis program of the DIS includes the "Fault Symptom: troubleshooting paths as well as the Test Modules, Service Functions and Expert Modes.

Diagnosis and troubleshooting should always begin with the fault symptom troubleshooting mode. Follow the test modules and diagnostic path provided by the DIS Tester.
