Blower Motor: Service and Repair



Blower Motor Replacement
- Additional work on 2-door model:
- Remove console for windshield wiper system




- Position windscreen wiper, left, vertically.
- Pull off rubber part and pry out grill.




- Remove screws from cable channel.




- Remove screws on right-hand side and take off holder.




- Unscrew left-hand screw.




- Pull out air collector in upwards direction.


NOTE: Air collector will be difficult to pull out.





M50, M52
- Unclip covers.
- Unscrew bolts.
- Remove cover of injection-valve plate.




- Unclip covers and remove screws.




- Remove cover.





S50
- Unfasten screws and remove cover.




- Remove screws and tilt electric-lead cover in forwards direction.




- Disconnect plug-in connections (1 and 2) from control units and place cable harness to one side.




- Unfasten screws (1 and 2) and place cable channel to one side.




- Disconnect cable.




- Unfasten clips and remove blower cover.




- Unfasten plug connection.




- Unfasten clips and lift out left upper section of blower.


NOTE: the air-conditioning system remains installed. Illustration shows air-conditioning unit removed.





- Cut off blower wheels at brace. Lift out blower wheels separately together with blower.





Installation:
- Install fan motor and fan gears individually in air manifold box and assemble there.
- Install blower wheel on shaft of blower motor so that colours match. the arrow on the blower indicates the correct installation position of the blower wheels.







CAUTION: Blower wheels are balanced and fit on the shaft in one position only.


Installation:
- The installation direction of the blower wheels is defined by the differing press-in depth of the driver pin.
